Blazer Kitchen, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s on-campus food bank serving employees and students, has relocated to a newly renovated space at 1613 11th Ave. South, formerly Birmingham Pediatric Dental Associates.

Previously located in Medical Towers, the new Blazer Kitchen home has more space to serve and amenities that will help it live out its mission of increasing food security in the UAB community by providing healthy food, resources and referrals to UAB employees, students, patients and their families.

“Relocating Blazer Kitchen to this brighter, more open space ensures we can better serve the customers who shop here,” said Kaydian Jordan, program coordinator for Blazer Kitchen. “Plus, we have more room to store various types of products, which means a greater variety of food options for Blazers to choose from.”

Since its opening in 2017, Blazer Kitchen has provided more than 392,916 meals and has provided more than 89,900 meals during the COVID-19 pandemic alone.

Currently, Blazer Kitchen is offering online shopping and appointments for food pickup. Those in need can register online for a time slot to pick up pre-packaged bags of food at 1613 11th Ave. South. This location is open each Wednesday from noon until 6 p.m. and each Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon.
